  • The Story

Today's story really comes in the form of the pictures down below. I
went on two hikes today. In the morning, I climbed to "Hidden
Canyon", which was a 2 miles hike climbing around 850 feet. After a
quick lunch, I then set out on the "Angels Landing" hike, a 5 mile
hike climbing 1500 feet which takes you out to the very end of a cliff
only after hiking along some sections no more than 3 feet wide with
1300 foot sheer dropoffs on either side. The weather forecast called
for temperatures into the 100s today and much of this second hike was
not shaded. I sit here at my campsite at about 7pm and am definitely
    still a little dehydrated.

Oh yeah, I did all of this hiking in my Nike Poobah Mountain Biking
SPD Shoes (cleats clapping the whole day...), circa 1995. Yes I have
    blisters now.

  • Tomorrow

I have let tomorrow be verry flexible (I just need to make it to Grand
Canyon by the 7th). I will definitely leave Zion tomorrow (although I
am sure I will be sore from hiking when I wake up!), making the cross
into Arizona. I will pull-up for the night either in Fredonia (45
miles), or climb up to Jacob Lake (75 miles with a TON of climbing),
or if I feel especially good, will roll on down the hill from Jacobs
Lake into Cliff Dwellers (110+ miles).
